Journal - In country for Ellie 2009
On Our Way - Saturday, September 19, 2009

Much like last time, sometime this morning, we will load the truck and head off to Dulles
airport and begin another chapter of our lives. On the flip side, unlike last time we will
not be starting out at a completely unreasonable hour, Lauren's mom will not be in the seat
next to us, and we will have to say goodbye to Sammy.

But we're not talking about that now because we KNOW that he is in THE BEST HANDS
ever and he is going to have a great time, so good in fact, he probably won't even miss us
with all the spoiling that's being planned!

It's just that we've only ever left him once, one night, and we were only an hour away, this
time we'll be on the other side of the world...ARGH! And with all the ridiculous, Murphy's
Law, technical challenges this week, our hopes of chats via webcam are completely dashed,
and we are only able to hope at this point that we'll be able to update the website in time
for him to wake up to a picture or two of us saying hello and that we miss him like crazy!

But like I said, we're not talking about that because we know it will all be worth it in the
end when we are able to get our hands on Ellie and bring her home to her big brother and
her Nona and her Pops and all the people who have been as excited as we are to have her
get here already so we can love on her!

...it just doesn't make it any easier to actually do it!

So the next time you hear from us, all the leaving will have been done, and all that will lie
in front of us will be meeting Ellie, exploring Sam and Ellie's birth-country, and a plane
ride home and that's not so bad so we're not going to wish the time away.  We won't land
in Korea until Sunday evening (about 5:00a.m. Sunday morning for all our East Coast
viewers) and then we have to get through immigration and customs and then we have at
least an hour drive to the hotel.  We hope to make at least one quick "we made it" post
before we sleep (please let there be sleep) but if not, you'll definitely hear from us after
we meet Ellie on Monday.

Mom & Dad, I love you, thank you for everything, I really lucked out in the parent
department (at least now that I'm not a teenager living in your house, your rules and all).

Sammy, we love, love, love you and we'll see you soon, monkey!

xoxo
Lauren & Kevin

NOTES FROM NONA
Sammy sends love and kisses to you both.  As you  see from the pictures he is having a
blast!!   He fell asleep on the floor playing, we carried him to church still asleep, he slept
through the Gospel and woke up at the end of the mass...

He found  his old blue teddy bear and named her Eloise and took her to bed with him.
Stay tuned!

Love,
Sammy's Nona
